Women’s Hockey – Wisconsin Athletics

MADISON, Wis. – For the second-straight year, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team will begin the season with a No. 2 ranking in the Preseason Women’s Hockey Poll, the group announced Monday.

The Badgers received 125 points, six more than their Border Battle rival Minnesota, who sit at No. 3 in the poll. Clarkson, last year’s NCAA champion, starts the season at No. 1 after securing 14 of the 15 first-place votes.

The WCHA has an NCAA-best four teams in the top 10 as Ohio State comes in at No. 7 and Minnesota Duluth is ranked No. 9. In addition, UW will face No. 10 Mercyhurst on the road the first weekend of October.  

The No. 2 Badgers open their 2018-19 season at home Sept. 28-29 against Lindenwood. Puck drop on Friday, Sept. 28 is set for 7 p.m. while the series wraps up on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. Limited tickets are still available here or by visiting
