School is back in session and that means the blogs are back as well. This year I have the pleasure of taking over graduated Baylee Wellhausen’s duties. I will attempt to do as well of a job at giving you all the inside scoop on the Wisconsin women’s hockey team.
With school starting back up again, and with not many sunny days left on the calendar, I thought we may want to reminisce about the summer most of us enjoyed here in Madison.
As a team, we spent our hot summer days bonding on trips to Lake of the Ozarks and tubing down Sugar River.
“My favorite part about summer was going to the pool at the Hub apartments and relaxing with my teammates,” sophomore Maddie Posick said.
We are athletes and we do need to fulfill our competitive personalities somehow. Some of us play beach volleyball or throw the football around at the pool. Or for some the sport of the summer is Spikeball. These Badgers take the games seriously, and when I say serious I mean throwing their bodies across the sand or grass or whatever environment they are playing in that match.
“I would have to say Alexis Mauermann and I were the champions of summer in SpikeBall, we had some good competition from players like Sophia Shaver and Mekenzie Steffen. But we normally took home the win,” stated confident junior Abby Roque.
Thankfully as gameday is quickly approaching we will no longer have to take out our competitive edge on water sports, and Spikeball. Come Friday night, we will tape our sticks, and tie our skates in preparation for the long season we have ahead of us, and we couldn’t be more excited.
I think I can speak for the team when I say summer was great but we are ready for hockey fans to pack LaBahn Arena and hockey season to return to Madison.
As always, On Wisconsin!
