Wisconsin volleyball: Badgers defeat Michigan, Michigan State

The hits just keep coming for No. 7 Wisconsin volleyball. The Badgers swept the state of Michigan over the weekend, knocking off both No. 12 Michigan and Michigan State.

Friday saw Wisconsin (16–4) win a hard-fought match with No. 12 Michigan 18–25, 25–16, 25–22, 21–25, 15–11 in Ann Arbor.

Wisconsin hit .218 overall but brought it when it mattered most, hitting .448 in the second set to tie the match and .304 in the fifth and decisive set. After allowing Michigan to .262 in the first set, the Badgers defense held fast, holding the Wolverines to .158 for the match.

Sophomore middle blocker Dana Rettke led the way with 21 kills and nine blocks. Junior libero Tiffany Clark continued her hot streak, tying a school-record with 33 digs. Sophomore setter Sydney Hilley had 53 assists.

Wisconsin continued its hot streak on Saturday, sweeping Michigan State 25–14, 25–20, 25–23 in East Lansing.

Wisconsin hit .319 for the match, including a blistering .423 second set. The Badgers held the Spartans to just .146 for the match.

Rettke filled the box score, posting an 11-kill, two-ace, four-block line, leading the team in all categories. Hilley had 36 assists and Clark 12 digs.
