Two Wisconsin Badgers class of 2019 standouts will participate in the 2019 All-American Bowl on Saturday in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Among the best players at each of their positions in this recruiting cycle, five-star offensive lineman Logan Brown and four-star quarterback Graham Mertz will play for the West and East squads, respectively.
Two days before the game (Saturday, noon CT, NBC), both Wisconsin signees appeared to impress once again on Thursday.
Both 247Sports and Rivals complimented Brown’s work on Thursday.
From 247Sports’ Barton Simmons, who called out Brown as one of the top 10 performers:
There are some really talented defensive linemen in San Antonio that are slicing up offensive linemen but Brown is one of the few that can handle the athleticism. His length is so rare and that is creating a challenge for pass rushers. He also is physical on several occasions, even in pass protection, he caved the defensive line. Brown has signed with Wisconsin.
Rivals.com’s Josh Helmholdt noted Brown in his daily stock report from San Antonio, where Brown was one of the players in the “Stock Up” category:
Brown missed parts of Wednesday’s practice, but he was fully operational Thursday and performed well. His blend of athleticism, size and strength makes it difficult for defensive ends to get around Brown.
SB Nation’s Bud Elliott is down in San Antonio and caught some video of Mertz. This highlight is the most impressive clip I have seen of Mertz this week. I am not one to add fuel to the hype train here by any stretch, especially for an incoming true freshman, but this throw was pretty incredible:
Oh yeah, Mertz can juggle too.
He tried punting as well.
247Sports’ Charles Power called Mertz the No. 3 quarterback of the day behind South Carolina signee Ryan Hilinski and Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler. He noted “his clean mechanics and smooth feel in the passing game.”
