MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin (7-4, 5-3) opened as a 10.5-point favorite over Minnesota (5-6, 2-6) heading into Saturday’s battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe, according to Vegas Insider.
UW owns a 60-59-8 record in the all-time series. Last season, the Badgers were able to take the lead for the first time in the rivalry that dates back to 1890.
Wisconsin has won 14 consecutive games over Minnesota, a streak that dates back to 2003. That’s the longest winning streak on either side of the rivalry. The Gophers haven’t won in Madison since 1994, suffering 11 consecutive losses.
The two teams haven’t been in a one-possession game since 2009.
In 2017, the Badgers closed out the regular season with a 31-0 win in Minneapolis.
UW’s defense allowed just 133 total yards. Alex Hornibrook threw for three touchdowns, while Jonathan Taylor added 151 yards on the ground and one rushing score.
Saturday’s kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. from Camp Randall Stadium.
