College football expert picks, predictions, best parlay for Dec. 27 Bowl Games: Back Wisconsin football

Three games highlight the college football bowl schedule on Thursday. Temple (-3.5) takes on Duke at 1:30 p.m. ET in the 2018 Independence Bowl, Miami (-3) faces Wisconsin in the Pinstripe Bowl at 5:15 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium, and Vanderbilt (-4) meets Baylor in the Texas Bowl at 9 p.m. ET. Before you make any college football picks for Dec. 27, you need to see who SportsLine’s Mike Tierney is picking.

No one knows football like Tierney. The veteran sportswriter and handicapper has covered college football of all levels up close for decades. And that expertise really shines through since joining SportsLine as a college football handicapper in 2017. He’s putting a cap on another year in the black with his best bets for the busiest days of the college bowl season.

He entered the 2018-19 bowl schedule on a strong 30-21 run on his college football picks, and he’s turning a profit so far on bowls. Now, for the three-game slate of Dec. 27, Tierney is again sharing his three top college football picks over at SportsLine. If you parlayed them together, you’d be looking at a strong 6-1 payout.

We can tell you Tierney loves Wisconsin (7-5) as an underdog against Miami (7-5) in the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl. He knows few teams have been able to move the ball on the Hurricanes, who rank No. 2 in the nation yards allowed and are No. 1 against the pass, giving up a scant 141 yards per game.

But Wisconsin only passes when it needs to. Once again, this year’s Badgers team has one of the top offensive lines anywhere. Behind it is the Doak Walker Award winner for top running back in the nation, Jonathan Taylor. He has a whopping 1,989 yards and 15 touchdowns in 12 games, gaining 7.1 yards per carry. Against other top-10 defenses in Michigan and Iowa, he totaled 214 yards, gained 200-plus yards four times, and even had 321 against Purdue

Each team had higher expectations than this game, and that plays into Tierney’s thinking as well. In the expected frigid temps of Yankee Stadium and little more than pride on the line, Miami (Fla.) may be the first to blink, especially if the Badgers get an early lead.

Confidently lock in the Badgers to cover as 4.5-point underdogs for a chance at a strong payout.

Tierney has also found two other games with huge flaws in the line, and is backing an underdog to get a program-defining victory. He’s only sharing who to back at SportsLine.

What are the three best bets for Thursday? And which underdog is about to make a huge statement? Visit SportsLine now to see Mike Tierney’s best bets for the Independence, Pinstripe, and Texas Bowls, all from one of the top college football experts in the nation who is running yet another profitable season at SportsLine.
