Now that the Wisconsin football team’s 2018 season is officially over, let’s preview some projected bowl games the Badgers could be selected to.
The Wisconsin football season finished in a disappointing fashion as the Badgers lost to the Minnesota Golden Gophers for the first time in 15 years. That victory allowed the Gophers to take back the Axe.
It also pushed Wisconsin into a 7-5 record on the season with only one more opportunity to earn a victory. That record is extremely disappointing for a team who was projected to be fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff. At the very least, the Badgers could’ve made an appearance in the Rose Bowl.
Unfortunately, Wisconsin fans have to look farther down the rung for the bowl game the Badgers will be in this season. It’s unfamiliar territory so stick with me as we go through these bowls (I promise none of them are made up). Without further ado, let’s preview the different bowls the Badgers are being projected to play in from across the internet.
TaxSlayer Bowl: CBS’ Jerry Palm is projecting the Badgers to make an appearance in the ol’ TaxSlayer bowl played on Dec. 31 in Jacksonville, Florida. The game is typically an ACC/Big Ten vs SEC matchup and their projected opponent is Missouri.
RedBox Bowl: SB Nation’s Jason Kirk projects Wisconsin to take on Arizona State in the Red Box Bowl. This game also takes place on Dec. 31 in Santa Clara, California and features a Big Ten vs. Pac-12 matchup.
A few of the other sites like ESPN had predicted the Badgers to make the Outback Bowl, but that’s unlikely to be the case following their loss against Minnesota. We’ll have to wait to see what their new projections hold when they come out later this week. For now, Badgers’ fans have exciting games similar to the Tax Slayer and Red Box bowls to look forward to.
