MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Athletics will recognize the family of Capt. Cory Barr during Wisconsin’s home football game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday, according to the Wisconsin Badgers’ Twitter page.
On July 10, 2018, Barr went to check on a gas leak near his business, The Barr House in downtown Sun Prairie. His wife, Abby, said Cory was a volunteer fire captain and went to figure out what was wrong while other firefighters were evacuating people to safety. The gas prompted an explosion that killed Cory.
Wisconsin Athletics and the Badger football team hosted Barr’s wife and their twin daughters, Aubrey and Hailey, according to a video posted by the Wisconsin Badgers on Twitter. They gave the Barr family a tour of the facility. Members of the team presented a Badger football jersey to the Barr family with the number 138 embroidered on it, which was Corey’s badge number.
The Wisconsin Badgers will take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Saturday, November 2, at 11 a.m.
