Winners of their last two games, Wisconsin (13-6, 5-3) is now a projected 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN bracketology expert Joe Lunardi.
In his latest NCAA Tournament projections, Lunardi has the Badgers facing 12-seed Lipscomb in Salt Lake City. Should UW advance to the Round of 32, they’d take on either 4-seed Texas Tech or 13-seed Lipscomb.
The No. 1 overall seed in the Midwest Region is currently slated to be Virginia, who defeated Wisconsin in the Battle4Atlantis title game. The Sweet 16 would be played in Kansas City.
UW is coming off a 72-60 win at Illinois on Saturday. After the Illini tied the game at 49, the Badgers outscored them 23-11 over the final 9:30, grabbing their 14th-straight win in the series. Wisconsin shot 51.1 percent from the field, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range, overcoming 17 turnovers and 23 team fouls.
UW will return to action on Saturday against Northwestern (12-7, 3-5). Wisconsin leads the all-time series 116-65, including a 66-23 mark in Madison. However, the Wildcats have won in each of their last two trips to the Kohl Center.
Unranked in the Associated Press Poll, the Badgers are No. 15 in the NCAA NET rankings and No. 11 according to KenPom.
With five NET ranking Quadrant 1 wins, Wisconsin stands fourth in the country, including a victory over then No. 2 and previously undefeated Michigan.
