ANN ARBOR, MI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin mens hockey team battled Michigan to a 2-2 draw with the Badgers picking up the extra point in a shootout victory Saturday night.
Ty Emberson recorded his first career goal to open the scoring in the first period, Jack Gorniak added another in the second to give Wisconsin a 2-0 edge. Michigan would then battle back with two straight goals of their own before time expired.
That stalemate continued for the ten-minute overtime period before Wisconsin would take the shootout 1-0. Max Zimmer cashed in his attempt, Michigan would miss both of their shots.
Wisconsin will now prepare for a weekend set against Penn State this coming Friday and Saturday.
The #1 ranked Wisconsin womens hockey team beat Harvard in OT for the 2nd straight night with a 2-1 victory on Saturday at LaBahn Arena.
Annie Pankowski had the game winner for the second straight game . Britta Curl had the other Badger goal in the 2nd period.
Wisconsin, now 15-1-0, will host Syracuse Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The Wisconsin womens volleyball team will head to the NCAA Tournament for the 6th straight year and 22nd time in school history.
The Badgers are a 6 seed and will host first and second round games at the UW Fieldhouse on Thursday and Friday.
Thursdays opener will feature Pepperdine vs Northern Iowa at 5pm and the Badgers will play UW-Green Bay at 7:30.
